This is an exciting opportunity to join the Planning and MI team who are responsible for external student data returns for the University of Sunderland. The role of the Planning and MI Coordinator (Student External Returns) will have a key focus working on the data requirements for the University, linked in closely with the HESA Data Futures project, in order to help provide robust and quality student information across the institution. The role will involve liaison with key departments, alongside working with faculties to help understanding, accessibility and use of data to ensure that the quality of data captured within the student records system is of the highest level.

As Planning and MI Coordinator (Student External Returns), you will be responsible for analysing, modelling and documenting data and business processes which adhere to and support University regulations and external reporting requirements. This includes the collection, audit and validation of data applying both internal data quality processes and ensuring compliance with external statutory customers. The role involves working with staff across the University to manage institutional data and ensure timely submission of data returns to HESA and contribute to other statutory returns.

The successful candidate will need to have experience and understanding of statutory institutional data and returns requirements, as well as SITs or related records systems. You will have the ability to interpret complex guidelines/procedures and follow processes accurately with excellent attention to detail. This is a great opportunity to identify process improvements, efficiencies to be made and be involved in the implementation of change within the University. You will be recognised for your relationship building skills with a customer focused attitude.

You will hold a degree or have equivalent experience, and will be comfortable working with large complex data sets and able to communicate key messages arising from data analysis to non-expert audiences, with advanced Office IT skills. Knowledge of HESA Data Futures would be a distinct advantage.
