Pre-registration programmes in Allied Health are a growing subject area in the Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellbeing at the University of Sunderland.


A multi-million new investment in state-of-the-art facilities and equipment alongside high quality teaching and the success of our other healthcare programmes in paramedic science and nursing, positions the Faculty for the successful delivery of a new pre-registration programme in Occupational Therapy. The Faculty is seeking an ambitious, enthusiastic and student-centred occupational therapist, with substantial teaching and learning experience in Higher Education, who will deliver an outstanding academic student experience for our undergraduate pre-registration BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy programme.you will demonstrate expertise and leadership in occupational therapy alongside excellent organisational, inter-personal, and communication skills.


The post is full-time and on a permanent basis. The University offers academic and professional development opportunities and provides a Post Graduate Certificate Teaching Qualification leading to HEA accreditation for those not holding a teaching qualification. The role holder will possess an excellent understanding of occupational therapy (physical health), research and evidence-informed practice. Have the ability to demonstrate a clear vision for research and knowledge-exchange activities, as well as a commitment towards employability, continued professional development.


Applicants with experience coordinating placements, including elective and role emerging placements, would be welcomed. The ability to provide research leadership and engagement with relevant internal and external agencies, at regional, national and international level, that enhance the research profile of the department, will be welcomed.


Applications for this challenging and exciting role level are welcome from those who are a HCPC registered occupational therapist and ideally have a postgraduate degree in an occupational therapy related subject. In addition, you should have substantial experience of teaching and learning in higher education, or substantial professional experience as a practice educator for undergraduate and postgraduate students on placements.
