An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Academic Registry’s Programme Administration team to provide administrative leadership to the Faculty of Health Science and Wellbeing’s School of Medicine in the delivery of its student assessment provision. As Programme Adminstration Co-ordinator (School of Medicine – Assessments), this role will support the School’s management and academic team in all associated assessment activity.

Sunderland School of Medicine welcomed its first cohort of Medical Students in 2019. It is one of only five new Medical Schools established to address the regional imbalance of medical education places across England and to widen access to ensure that the profession reflects the communities it serves. At full capacity we will have a cohort of 500 Medical Students. The School of Medicine sits within the Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellbeing at Sunderland University which has a track-record of excellence in science and healthcare education spanning almost 100 years.

The School of Medicine works closely with the General Medical Council (GMC), who set the standards for all providers of medical education and training and we regularly have to demonstrate that we meet the high standards that they set. Further information on the GMC can be found here: https://www.gmc-uk.org/

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and efficient individual to manage the School of Medicine assessment administration processes. You will be responsible for providing an effective and comprehensive administrative function ensuring that assessment processes are scheduled and delivered to the highest standard. You will work alongside colleagues in Academic Registry and services beyond it. You will be educated to A-level standard or equivalent, or have experience in a similar role.

You will have proven experience of working in a customer-focused environment, demonstrating the ability to plan effectively with excellent organisational skills. Having strong attention to detail, you will also be able to deal with a variety of difficult situations, including complex and wide-ranging enquiries.

Your experience of IT systems will be extensive and include Microsoft packages, web-based systems and databases. You must have strong team-working skills, be confident taking initiative within agreed parameters but also have the judgment to know when to escalate problems. You will be able to develop and enhance systems and processes and be confident handling data.

If you would like to work in a forward-thinking professional service, with continuous improvement at the forefront of everything that we do, this role will provide an exciting opportunity for you.
