Looking for a paid, term‑time role from September 2026 that boosts your CV, builds your confidence, and helps other students succeed?

Join the growing PASS (Peer Assisted Study Sessions) team at the University of Sunderland!

As a PASS Leader, you’ll run weekly study sessions that help first‑year students develop study skills, build connections, and feel more confident in their course. It’s a great way to share what you’ve learned while developing skills that employers love. 

What does a PASS Leader do?

PASS Leaders are fully trained to:

 Plan and run weekly 1‑hour study sessions

  • Encourage group discussion and collaborative learning
  • Help students understand tricky course content
  • Support first-years as they settle into university life

 You’ll get support every step of the way, so don’t worry if you’ve never mentored or led a group before!

Pay & Hours

This is a paid role, in line with the National Living Wage (£12.21/h) and includes:

  • 2.5 hours per week (1 hr planning + 1 hr delivery + 30 min debrief)
  • Mandatory paid on campus training on Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th September 2026
  • Occasional extra paid opportunities throughout term (e.g., induction week, additional training)

 We’re looking for students who are: 

  • Reliable, trustworthy and professional
  • Enthusiastic about their course
  • Able to relate to first‑year students
  • Friendly and approachable
  • Keen to develop and improve the PASS scheme
  • Confident using University IT systems (Teams, Canvas, Outlook, Word etc.)

We are currently recruiting for students in stage 1 (first year of study) on the below courses at University of Sunderland only (stage 0 for IFY).

 *Please note, for all Law programmes you will need to have started your programme in January or September 2025 so that you will have passed all stage 1 modules by September 2026.*
