This is an opportunity to join a thriving team delivering a range of UG nursing and midwifery programmes.   This new post was created due to development of the FdSc Nursing Associate programme which is due to commence in June 2024 (subject to approval)

We have exceptional facilities but also staff development including supported academic study, research development and collaborative working across host NHS Trusts, and academic development related to learning & teaching, student voice and inclusivity.   As an awarded University for widening participation, this is fundamental to our Key Performance Indicators and student success.

About the role

Within this role you will effectively lead on the delivery and continual development of the FdSc Nursing Associate programme and support delivery on other Undergraduate Nursing provision and related studies across the faculty.  You will develop learning and teaching related to evidence-based nursing and research theory and input into the student experience, leadership and learning & teaching excellence but also contribute towards the future Research Excellence Framework and Teaching Excellence Framework.

What you can bring

The successful candidate will bring teaching experience within a Higher Education Institution or equivalent and experience of module leadership, marking & moderation.

It is important that you have experience supporting nursing students with academic study, practice assessment and pastoral care.

What we can offer you

The University of Sunderland is not just a place of academic excellence, but also a community that embraces inclusivity and support. We value our staff and offer a rewarding package that goes beyond just salary. Joining our team comes with a host of benefits designed to enhance your work-life balance and overall well-being.

•            Enjoy a generous annual leave entitlement of 36 days, along with an additional 5 closure days over the Christmas break and 8 Bank Holidays.

•            We also provide access to the Local Government Pension Scheme or TPS, ensuring your financial security for the future.

•            As part of our commitment to your well-being, we offer the My Lifestyle Benefits Platform, where you can enjoy online discounts at hundreds of retailers every day. Plus, take advantage of exclusive schemes that allow you to purchase a new car, bike, or technology at a discounted rate.

•            Your health and well-being are important to us. That's why we provide access to private medical insurance, health cash plans, and guidance on financial well-being.

•            For those with young children, our on-site nursery offers exceptional care and education for children from birth to school age, operating throughout the year.

•            Maintaining an active lifestyle is made easy with discounted membership for CitySpace Fitness, our state-of-the-art facility for sports and social activities. You'll also have access to our fantastic support staff networks, free campus bus travel, on-site events, and much more.

At the University of Sunderland, we prioritise not only your professional growth but also your happiness and well-being.

Equality, diversity & inclusion

We strongly believe that an inclusive university, where a diverse range of individuals feel valued and have equal opportunity to get into work and reach their potential, is good for our staff, students, university, and society.

Our work on equality, diversity and inclusivity has never been more important. We believe inclusivity is an essential value at the heart of what we do, and we want all our staff to be part of that journey with us.

Our recent staff survey conducted in 2023 showed that 97% of our staff believed that we were committed to achieving an inclusive university.
