To assist us in the further development of our vision for teaching, research and external engagement in the pharmaceutical sciences and related areas, an exciting opportunity has arisen to for a one year fixed term post to cover maternity leave as Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry.

This post provides the opportunity to contribute to the provision of excellent academic practice in the pharmaceutical sciences and related areas within the Faculty by making an effective contribution across all areas of academic activity, underpinned and supported by the highest standards of pedagogic practice. In particular, you will have opportunity to contribute to teaching, learning, assessment of BSc Biochemistry, BSc Biopharmaceutical Science, BSc Medicinal Chemistry, Master of Pharmacy and MSc Drug Discovery and Development and more generally on related pharmaceutical science programmes at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level. The successful candidate will also have opportunity to conduct independent research in the pharmaceutical sciences.

The Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellbeing brings together a variety of disciplines with more than 250 academic staff encompassing Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medicine, Biosciences, Nursing, Public & Allied Health, Sport & Exercise Sciences and Psychology. The Sciences Complex, featuring leading edge laboratory, clinical and CPD resources, offers a superb learning environment for students and a setting for enhanced engagement with professional and industrial partners. We offer not only state of the art facilities but also have industry leading companies and experts integrated into the very heart of programme delivery. This combination of academic and industrial interaction offers the most up to date and industry ready training possible for our students.

To be considered for this post, you must be educated to degree level and possess a postgraduate qualification in a relevant chemistry-based discipline, or have relevant industrial experience within the fields of organic, medicinal or pharmaceutical chemistry. The successful candidate will be an engaging educator with experience of developing, supporting and delivering teaching and assessment within the Higher Education environment and have experience of conducting research in the pharmaceutical sciences.
