Location:  Sunderland Campus
Closing Date:  Sunday 23 January 2022
Interview Date:  To be confirmed

Please note: this vacancy is only available to current employees of the University

I am delighted to advise you of the launch of the 2021/2022 Academic Promotion round for our academic staff based at campuses in Sunderland and London. The procedure and application process is available HERE

The University of Sunderland is committed to enhancing its reputation in research, learning & teaching and enterprise & innovation. The Academic Promotion round is designed to recognise and reward outstanding performance across these areas that supports delivery of the University’s Strategic Plan 2020-25.  Performance is measured by an individual’s ability to demonstrate excellence over a sustained period, and evidence of the significance of their contribution and impact across their academic activities.

The Academic Career Pathway is a key element of the Academic Role Framework and comprises research, learning & teaching and enterprise & innovation pathways, providing the opportunity for staff to progress to Associate Professorial or Professorial level.

The University is committed to promoting equality of opportunity for all staff and ensuring a working environment that is free from discrimination and unfair treatment. To support this we will offer workshop sessions in which senior staff will share their experiences of the application process.

As part of the application you will be asked for the full names, titles and contact details (email and telephone) of two nominated referees who must be external to the University of Sunderland. For Professorial applications the referees must be at Professorial level or equivalent and for Associate Professorship the referees will be of senior academic/professional status and have the relevant expertise. In addition, you should state your relationship to the referee (e.g. PhD supervisor, ex-colleague etc.).

You will also be asked to upload a current curriculum vitae (CV) including biographical, education and career details in a standard sequence. It is important that the CV is set out in the correct format and provides a full, but succinct and factual account of achievement avoiding lengthy appendices. Detailed guidance can be found in Appendix 4 of the Professorial and Associate Professorial Appointments Procedure 2021. If the CV is not presented according to this guidance the application will not be considered.

Applicants should not supplement the application with any other material other than those items listed above. Any additional information provided which has not been requested will be returned to the applicant. A deadline is stipulated above and late applications will not normally be accepted.
