At the University of Sunderland in London (UoSiL), we are dedicated to prioritising student experience, customer service, academic quality, value for money, and continuous improvement. And now we have an exciting opportunity to join us as Student Support Officer. We have four full-time vacancies available: three permanent positions and one fixed-term contract (maternity cover) until 5 February 2027.

ABOUT US 

The University of Sunderland in London, based at Canary Wharf, boasts a vibrant and diverse community of staff and students. We consider ourselves as an innovative satellite campus and are constantly evolving and have exciting plans for 2026 and beyond!

We are currently piloting a four-day working week which allows our colleagues to work 32 hours over 4 days week with no reduction in pay. The pilot is part of our ongoing efforts to create a positive and inclusive workplace that promotes work-life balance and allows our colleagues to thrive professionally and personally whilst maintaining our commitment to delivering high-quality service to all our students.

In addition, we have moved to a modern campus building, offering a bright and spacious learning and working environment.

ABOUT THE TEAM

You’ll be joining a collaborative and passionate Student Support Team that works at the heart of our student community. We pride ourselves on being welcoming, responsive, and solution-focused, always striving to deliver outstanding service. Our team works closely together, sharing knowledge and ideas to continuously improve the support we offer. We partner with colleagues across the University to ensure students feel fully supported and connected, creating a culture where innovation and feedback drive everything we do.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Student Support Officer, you will play a vital part in shaping an exceptional student experience at the University of Sunderland in London. This is a dynamic, student-facing role where no two days are the same. You’ll be the first point of contact for students, providing accurate advice, guidance, and practical support that helps them thrive throughout their academic journey. From resolving enquiries and supporting attendance to planning and delivering engaging events, you’ll take ownership of creating positive outcomes for our students. This role is all about being proactive, approachable, and committed to getting things right the first time, ensuring every interaction reflects our values of care, inclusivity, and excellence.

ABOUT YOU

You are someone who genuinely cares about helping others and understands the importance of creating a positive student experience. With strong communication skills and a natural ability to listen and empathise, you can tailor your approach to meet individual needs. You thrive in a busy, customer-focused environment and take pride in delivering accurate, timely advice and solutions. Your organisational skills and attention to detail mean you can manage multiple priorities while maintaining a calm and professional approach. Most importantly, you bring positivity, and a collaborative spirit, always ready to work with colleagues and students to make a real difference.
