About the role

Our team has an outstanding record of teaching excellence and student satisfaction: Law courses are ranked 1st in the UK for teaching quality (Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2026), student experience, and research quality (Times and Sunday Times 2025), and 1st in the North East for teaching and student satisfaction (Guardian University Guide 2025; Complete University Guide 2024).

Our LLB Law course also achieved 100% positivity scores for learning resources and for how well the course develops students’ knowledge and skills for the future (National Student Survey 2024).

The Law School plays a key role in the University’s strategic vision for growth, innovation, and global engagement. We offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that reflect the evolving legal profession and the needs of modern learners.

What you can bring

The successful candidate will have a strong academic background in Law, with depth and experience of specialist legal knowledge to deliver high-quality teaching across core LLB Law subjects and/or SQE modules.

The candidate will demonstrate recent experience of teaching Law at university level and the ability to lead undergraduate and/or postgraduate modules, ensuring academic standards and an excellent student learning experience. Joining the Faculty provides the opportunity to contribute to this award-winning and research-active community with strong links to professional practice.
