The Graduate Internship Scheme is a collaboration between the University of Sunderland, a recent Graduate and a regional SME. The Scheme has been designed to benefit both the Graduate and the company, ensuring that the Graduate takes the first steps on the career ladder whilst the company benefits from the Graduates enthusiasm, expertise and up to date knowledge.  


The Internship is a full time position, for a 12 month fixed term period.

The Organisation:

Premier Teachers is a specialist education recruitment company based in Sunderland which is managed by an experienced teacher. We provide staffing solutions to schools and colleges. We are currently developing an innovative platform and App which will enable national scaling of our services.




The Role:

The role involves candidate attraction, managing key client accounts and attracting new business in the business development side of the role. All staff are fully trained on the compliance side of the business and will be asked to assist with that side of the role regardless of the position they are appointed into. 

The graduate will be helping us to develop our new technology App and Platform which will be developed in January 2020 but there is planning to put in place before we launch the development. The App will enable a fully streamlined booking service which saves schools time and money and any candidate significant amounts of time to find roles. 

The graduate would be involved in ideas around the app development and to work on loading candidate data to the App once developed and in selling this service to schools and colleges.

Tasks will include:

  • Using social media and advertising job boards to find and attract candidates to interview
  • At least 60 calls per week to schools – most will be potential new clients
  • Client visits
  • Interviewing candidates and writing profiles
  • Writing and answering emails
  • Answering the office phone
  • Filing when required
  • Completing vetting needed to clear candidates
  • Assisting the Managing Director in whatever capacity is required which may mean some out of ours work
  • Attending conferences

Essential and Desirable Criteria:

Essential:

  • A strong interest in working in a sales environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision
  • Thrives on meeting targets
  • Strong interpersonal skills both in person and on the phone


Desirable:

  • Experience of working in a recruitment company or sales environment such as a call centre. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
