We are currently recruiting Residential Assistant’s for the period from September 2021 – June 2022 (term-time) at Clanny House and Panns Bank/Scotia Quay.
The role of Residential Assistant is a salaried, fixed term, part-time residential position, offering an out of office hour’s support and guidance to students and guests living in university student accommodation.
The Residential Assistant is a current University of Sunderland student with a minimum of one academic year’s experience of living in student accommodation. They are trained to provide support, guidance and to contribute to the effective smooth running of the student community. Within the role this includes organising social events, attending open days and supporting the university campaigns including sustainability. Their primary role is pastoral care, in providing students with a friendly service, someone to talk to should they have a query or problem. The Residential Assistant can signpost students on to the University support team i.e. health advisors, counselling, and financial support along with Student Union's range of services.
The Residential Assistant is responsible to support and assist Accommodation Services with fire safety, emergency situations and in maintaining good order within student accommodation. For example: observing, correcting, recording and reporting any breach in fire, health and safety regulations, the accommodation handbook and reporting of a defect or repairs. The Residential Assistant must be flexible and could be asked to work at any of our student accommodation sites.
