At the University of Sunderland the BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing Practice programme has gone from strength to strength in the past three years and following the NMC validation of the new curriculum we are offering an opportunity to join a dynamic and enthusiastic team as an academic lecturer.

The role will involve theoretical and practical teaching across all three years of the programme, supported by experienced academics and the extended university team. We offer an outstanding learning environment with simulated mental health ward spaces, the Living Lab, state of the art equipment, along with award winning library and student support. Opportunities for personal development are outstanding and include the Helen McArdle Research Institute which uniquely enables all academics to engage with practice research.

The successful person will have the following:

  • Extensive experience working with student nurses, supporting their learning and practice skills
  • Formal teaching experience is not essential but enthusiasm for learning, teaching skills and how your own experience can enhance student learning is critical to this role
  • Current nursing skills and experience within Mental Health practice, inclining medicine management and complex decision making

Please note this position is part-time, contracted to 23 hours per week.
