The University of Sunderland is in an exciting phase of its development with a new vision and redefined strategic ambitions, designed to take advantage of the ever-changing higher education landscape at home and overseas. Our strategic plan 2020-25 capitalises on our long and successful track-record of ‘life changing’ higher education and is ambitious and relevant for a 21st century global University.

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly skilled Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Social Work to join our friendly, professional and progressive team. The successful candidate will have a primary focus on the delivery of our highly successful Social Work Apprenticeship programme, in partnership with Social Work employers around the region. You will also contribute to our undergraduate and Masters qualifying Social Work programmes, as well as to post-qualifying courses.

The role will involve module leadership, teaching and assessment, student supervision/support and curriculum development. You will support activities across the team and contribute to the research profile of the School of Social Sciences by engaging in the School’s strong research culture.

Applications are invited from candidates who are Registered Social Workers with a strong commitment to high quality teaching and learning in a Higher Education environment. Candidates should be qualified to at least Masters level and have teaching experience in the HE sector, ideally holding a teaching qualification and/or HEA fellowship. Experience of delivering online learning is also desirable.

Ideally, the candidate will have an active research profile with the potential to enhance the School's return to the next Research Excellence Framework submission. You will contribute to the promotion of teaching, research and outreach activities across the Faculty of Education and Society and particularly the School of Social Sciences.

If you hold the skills, qualifications and experience we are looking for, we would love to hear from you. For further information about the post or an informal discussion please contact Sarah Beck, Associate Head of School (Social Work, Community and Youth Work Studies) - sarah.beck@sunderland.ac.uk.
