The University of Sunderland is innovative and forward thinking, with excellent standards of teaching and a portfolio of high-impact research. With an operating turnover in excess of £132m, and a community of more than 18,500 students across two campuses in Sunderland, and branch campuses in London and Hong Kong. The University is a major economic driver in the city and the North East region. Our ambition is to be recognised as a high-quality, modern University that is an exemplar in the creation of knowledge, skills and learning relevant to the 21st Century, we aim to provide life-changing opportunities for our students and staff.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the permanent role of Data Analyst within the Management Information and Market Insights Team, providing a pivotal role in the development of business intelligence to support strategic decision making and producing management information reports to support operational decision making. This is a key time to join the University of Sunderland and you will be able to support numerous internal and external activities, providing evaluation and recommendations which align with and support the University’s focus and strategic priorities.

In a busy team, as part of the wider Finance and Planning Department, the role will also cover items such as assisting in the monitoring of key performance indicators both internal and external to the institution alongside providing vital support to the University’s student number planning process, with insightful analysis and evaluation. The Data Analyst will work with people across all levels, faculties and services throughout the institution offering a wide variety of differing work and requests, often on a daily basis, with the ability to provide data and information in a user and visual friendly format.

You will have the ability to manage and prioritise your own workload in a dynamic environment, being able to work as part of a team but also using your initiative to resolve complex problems and propose solutions. Excellent communication skills are essential along with the ability to provide persuasive arguments to action change and to help inform strategy.

You will have excellent IT skills and knowledge of business intelligence tools and their use in the running of a large organisation. Experience of using Alteryx (or similar) software would be desirable, however comprehensive training will be provided which makes a keen willingness to engage and learn essential.
