 Who we are looking for

We are looking to appoint to six full time roles within our growing Business School.  We are especially looking for Colleagues with expertise in the following areas:

  • Strategy
  • Business
  • International Marketing
  • Digital Marketing
  • International HRM
  • Accounting and Finance

Our ideal people are passionate about contributing to the University and its Life Changing ambitions.  They are passionate about high quality teaching and their area of research.  They value the student experience, supporting cultural development and are a role model to employees and students.

They will have a PhD in a business related field and experience of teaching.  They will have a particular interest in being student focussed; enthused to deal with all of the challenges and opportunities such focus brings.  We are looking for individuals that are empathetic in their approach and understand the civic role we play as an institution.

About the role

As a teaching intense school with a large portfolio of overseas partners, the role of Lecturer and Senior Lecturer can be complex and very varied; a typical day may include on-campus teaching, programme leadership duties, dealing with student needs, representing the faculty and school across wider projects, or facilitating calls with overseas partners.

If a varied day sounds like something you would be motivated by, then we would certainly encourage you to apply for this role!

The role will be part of one of four teams within a matrix structure in the Business School.  Find out more about our wonderful team here: Business and Management | The University of Sunderland.

As a Lecturer you will drive module leadership and excellent teaching quality as well as contribute to the research agenda within the Faculty.  As a Senior lecturer, you will lead and drive programme and module leadership as well as driving teaching quality and contribute to the research agenda within the Faculty.

What we can offer you

The School and University has a lot to offer; situated on the beautiful North East Coast, St. Peter's Campus has wonderful views of the Wear River and is a stone's throw from the regeneration activity within the City.  For the right people currently working outside of the area, we would offer Staff Relocation Assistance Policy and Procedure.   We also have agile working, meaning that we offer a combination of on and off-campus activity to support Flexible working.

In return, we offer a generous Teacher's pension scheme, cycle to work, health cash plan and salary deduction for our On-Site Nursery.  Our generous annual leave offers our Lecturers 31 days plus 13 bank holidays and our Senior Lecturers 36 days plus 13 bank holidays.

 Discussions and next steps

We are very passionate that the people who join us are well prepared for the opportunities and challenges ahead and would welcome further conversations from candidates.  Please contact Monika.foster@sunderland.ac.uk for an informal conversation.

Interviews will take place w/c 21st November.
