The Faculty of Business, Law and Tourism at the University of Sunderland is looking to recruit a talented individual to help drive our ambitious research agenda. Our ongoing expansion is realising a staff base with huge potential and we are looking for an individual to help shape our research environment, catalyse our publication strategy and work as a senior Colleague to deliver our REF2027 strategy.

The University of Sunderland is a high-impact institution, both Regionally and Internationally. Shortlisted for the THE University of the Year in 2022 and University of the Year for Social Inclusion 2021 we are recognised for our life-changing work with students, communities and organisations. The Faculty of Business, Law and Tourism is at the heart of this with many international partnerships, engagement projects, world-leading research elements and our applied learning ethos; our business-focused connected-curriculum engages students with employers in every module.

The Faculty is based at our beautiful riverside St Peter’s Campus, convenient for public transport links and close to the heart of the City, where substantial investment is shaping outstanding commercial, leisure and eco-residential developments. We are close to the beautiful Roker beach and within striking distance of areas of outstanding natural beauty in a region which can offer exceptional value and quality of life.

Whilst we welcome applications from all candidates within the broad field of business and management we would particularly wish to have individuals who can contribute to our leadership, enterprise, digital or emerging sustainability themes.

Reporting directly to the Dean we are looking for an outstanding individual to contribute to strong research leadership within the School of Business and Management. This will include:
- Driving Colleague success towards reaching their research potential for REF2027
- Fostering a vibrant research environment, with connections cross-University, to our other campus locations, with our partnerships and to external collaborators
- Shaping our doctoral provision forward with commercial models for other locations and extensive engagement from our research community

The successful candidate will have an outstanding publication record, including elements of world-leading research output and be an inspirational leader who can mentor, coach and support our growing talent.

Informal enquiries regarding this role may be made to Professor Lawrence Bellamy, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Law and Tourism via EA
