The University of Sunderland is a truly life-changing university. We've been providing higher education in the city since 1901, and we're proud to be an innovative, accessible and inspirational university. We have recently been shortlisted as University of the Year, the leading category in this year’s Times Higher Education annual awards. The University has 20,000 students based in campuses in the north-east of England, London and Hong Kong, and through our global partnerships with learning institutions in 15 countries.

The Development and Alumni team sits in the wider External Relations service and support two functions:

  • To raise funds towards the work of the University with the help of supporters, alumni and friends, and to administer the work of the Development Trust
  • To maintain a lasting relationship between the University and its graduates through the Alumni Association

The Development and Alumni team work with colleagues across the University to raise funds for student scholarships, capital appeals, research and faculty projects as well as administering fourteen philanthropic scholarship programmes.

The Alumni Association plays a critical role in supporting and engaging current students and graduates with over 160,000 alumni across the world. There is great scope and interest in growing active support and advocacy that will enhance the University's strategic position. Our key drivers in the next three years are to increase participation; improve data; celebrate alumni achievement and identify those whom we have lost touch with.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail orientated individual to join the Development & Alumni Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day administration of the Development and Alumni Office and will be well organised with excellent written and interpersonal skills and able to manage a diverse portfolio of work. They will be joining an exciting, challenging and rewarding place to work and will report to the Head of Development and Alumni.
