As Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Research and Global Engagement, at the University of Sunderland, you will play a key role in advancing research, innovation, and global engagement.
You will help develop a strong research culture, enhancing the university’s international profile, overseeing online provision, promoting global experiences for students, and expanding research and knowledge exchange in a global context.
Specifically, you will collaborate with senior colleagues to attract and retain high-quality researchers, leading research frameworks, implementing research and knowledge exchange plans, advising on research policy, ensuring research informs curriculum development and delivering strong outcomes and growth with online taught programmes. The role also involves representing the university nationally and internationally, chairing key research and knowledge exchange groups, leading internationalisation efforts, and cultivating partnerships with external organisations.
The Pro-Vice-Chancellor has membership on the Senior Leadership Board, providing support for strategic development and corporate management. The successful candidate will act as an ambassador for the university, upholding its values and promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.
You will be an ambitious and inspirational senior academic, with extensive experience in academic research development and senior leadership roles, driving research culture, possessing a deep understanding of higher education policies, trends, and challenges on a global scale. With a track record of successfully driving change, forging strategic partnerships, and effectively managing resources demonstrates your ability to make a significant impact.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Board, you will have the platform to contribute your expertise and shape the university’s future direction. Additionally, your strong ambassadorial skills, resource management expertise, and cultural sensitivity will be highly valued, along with your integrity, openness, and collaborative management style.
