The University of Sunderland is in the next exciting phase of its development with a new vision and redefined strategic ambitions, designed to take advantage of the ever-changing higher education landscape. One aspect of this is reflected through the Digital Plan which is owned by the Technical Services department, this identifies three thematic areas: Digital First, Digital Positioning and Digital Focus.

The Technical team are a key underpinning service of delivering our global operation. The team are multi-disciplined, vibrant, and agile, made up of the IT team, academic support, information governance and data protection, cyber security and projects and change teams. There is a fantastic opportunity for a cyber professional to join Technical Services within the cyber team as part of the IT Service. We are about to embark on an ambitious new phase of our digital transformation roadmap and this role is critical in ensuring the business and technology are secure across our global operations.

We’re looking for someone who can; provide overall direction, guidance, definition and understanding of cyber security to effectively support the delivery of our digital estate.
The successful candidate will use a range of tools and techniques to identify and deliver the security capabilities that are required to support the business as well as understanding the impact on technology, people, processes, and information, creating and maintaining a strong cyber defence.
