The University of Sunderland is seeking a high-calibre full-time senior lecturer with a track record of strong academic leadership and the vision to help shape our professions-facing curriculum at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
English is housed in the School of Media and Communications. Our innovative BA (Hons) English: Creative and Professional Writing launched in September 2021, blending a traditional English curriculum with a modern focus on employability and professional writing skills.
The successful candidate will be able to take a leading role in driving forward this degree, alongside helping shape our MA in English Studies. They will be also supported in developing their own areas of practice and research.
We are seeking someone with strong industry contacts, and ideas for careers-focused pedagogy and extra-curricular student experiences. You will also have proven experience as a professional writer, ideally spanning a range of creative sectors to help prepare students for careers in the likes of publishing, copy writing, script writing and screen writing.
