The Graduate Internship Scheme is a collaboration between the University of Sunderland, a recent Graduate and a regional SME. The Scheme has been designed to benefit both the Graduate and the company, ensuring that the Graduate takes the first steps on the career ladder whilst the company benefits from the Graduates enthusiasm, expertise and up to date knowledge.  


The Internship is a full-time position.


The Organisation:

Franks Portlock is an expanding environmental consultancy, specialising in Water Hygiene and Asbestos Consultancy services across the UK. We operate primarily in a business-to-business capacity across all sectors.

The Role:

In addition to being provided with a fantastic opportunity to initiate a digital marketing division of Franks Portlock, this position also offers the successful candidate a generous holiday allowance, free onsite parking and optional health insurance.


The role will be to design, implement (using third party specialists as necessary), monitor and asses a marketing plan for the business in order to increase our market visibility with a demonstrable increase in enquiries and leads.


Working closely with our Head of Business Development to enable growth across all our services and client sectors the plan will focus on short term and long term goals, but also be reactive to new trends and current events.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Research and design a marketing strategy in coordination with the Head of Business Development, primarily, and the wider management team.


  • Create original written content focussing on the company and its staff’s achievements as well as technical and/or thought leadership content (pulling on the in-house expertise available), delivered by internal and external publications.


  • Oversee SEO and website optimisation, including updating new content.


  • Social media content and cross platform strategies, including analysis of metrics.


  • Designing marketing materials, both digital and in hardcopy, and email marketing campaigns.


  • Design, distribute and analyse the results of client satisfaction questionnaires (currently Survey Monkey) and gather testimonies.


  • Assisting the Head of Business Development in maintaining an effective CRM where it is to be used for marketing activities, including routine data cleansing.


  • Sourcing B2B events that could lead to networking and marketing opportunities for the Business Development Manager.


  • Assess the impact of the marketing output and produce management reports.
