This post of Senior Lecturer Academic Pharmacist Practitioner, which will be based at the University of Sunderland, is a progressive, innovative, partnership appointment between the Sunderland School of Pharmacy and South Tees NHS Foundation Trust.
With more than 100 academic staff encompassing pharmacy, nursing, community and public health, psychology and biomedical, pharmaceutical, sport and environmental sciences, this Faculty is the largest in the University. The Sciences Complex, featuring leading edge laboratory, clinical and CPD resources, offers a superb learning environment for students and a setting for enhanced engagement with professional, NHS and industrial partners. Work is complete on a redevelopment of the Sciences Complex to offer The Living Lab, a unique, purpose-built environment reflecting the various settings of integrated care provision, including mock hospital ward, pharmacy dispensary, consultation and examination rooms, hi-fidelity simulation suite and Point of Care Centre. We have a sustained track record of applied research with real world impact, which is both locally relevant, and internationally renowned. Carried out by multi-disciplinary teams that span the fundamental and applied sciences, and which commonly include clinicians and other medical practitioners, this approach allows us to address the challenge of getting science into products and evidence into practice.
South Tees NHS foundation Trust has two acute sites, The James Cook University Hospital Middlesbrough and The Friarage Hospital Northallerton, and several community hospitals in both the Teesside area and North Yorkshire. The James Cook University Hospital is a modern hospital with over 900 beds. The hospital provides a full range of pharmaceutical services to the local and wider community dedicated to working directly with patients playing an integral part in their assessment, treatment and care, and includes extensive clinical pharmacy services dedicated to medicines optimisation across both primary and secondary care.
This partnership appointment between the Sunderland School of Pharmacy and South Tees NHS Foundation Trust (salaried at the University, with governance arrangements, including an Honorary Contract at the Trust), therefore seeks a highly motivated Registrant of the General Pharmaceutical Council, who has experience and an up-to-date understanding of current trends in clinical pharmacy, to further enhance the reputation of the Sunderland School of Pharmacy and South Tees NHS Foundation Trust, through supporting and working with academic and Trust-based colleagues in order to deliver an excellent student experience and, excellent pharmacy services that clearly demonstrate benefits to patient outcomes.
